How to Apply for an Incentive

Applying for our Business Incentive Program is simple. If you’re a non-residential customer with facilities in PPL Electric Utilities’ service territories, you’re eligible to earn cash incentives toward energy efficiency improvements.

Pre-approval of the project continues to be recommended and encouraged to accurately calculate savings and incentives. However, effective April 1, 2024, pre-approval may be waived by PPL Electric on custom projects when project savings can still be accurately captured without pre-approval.

Just follow the steps below:

Submit an incentive application

1. Submit an incentive application

After energy efficiency projects are identified, visit our online application portal to set up an account in order to submit applications for incentives.

Required documentation includes a payee W-9, current electric bill, product specifications, savings calculations (lighting and/or custom) and cost estimates (e.g., scope of work, proposal, or quote). If the payee is any party other than the utility customer, we will need a completed, signed Third Party Authorization Form found here.

Projects must be submitted online or via paper application to reserve funds. Based on the application's timelines and scope, we will calculate preliminary incentives and energy savings. Once reviewed and approved, we will notify you via email of your incentive.

To streamline the process, feel free to use our application checklist:

    • Copy of current PPL electric bill

    • Cost Estimate (e.g., scope of work, proposal, or project quote)

    • Manufacturers’ specification sheets for qualifying equipment

    • Incentive estimator(s), as needed for equipment and systems

    • Completed, signed W-9 with tax identification on the most current IRS version (Rev. 2024)

    • Completed, signed Third Party Authorization Form, if the payee is not the customer.

*Incentives are not reserved without a complete application, including all supporting materials.

Pre- on-site verification

2. Pre- on-site verification

If we didn’t assist in the initial assessment, our program team may need to verify the facility for pre-approval purposes. Contact us to determine if that’s the case.

Installation

3. Installation

The contractor will then move forward with your chosen installations and upgrades. Please notify us immediately of any changes to the project scope, equipment selection or timeline.

Submit all required documentation

4. Submit all required documentation

Upon completion of project, you’ll need to submit all required supporting documentation and signed installation verification letter. What’s required will be listed on your incentive application status online. This completes your application for final review.

Receive your incentive check

5. Receive your incentive check

Once your final application has been approved, an incentive check will be sent to the contact specified in the application. The incentives are issued approximately 4 to 6 weeks after project approval. Within a few weeks of receiving your incentive check, we will reach out with a customer satisfaction survey. We hope that you take the time to respond favorably and provide feedback on how PPL's Business Energy Efficiency Program helped your business.
